About the English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan)

The English Toy Terrier (Black & Tan) is a small, elegant British terrier and the smaller cousin of the Manchester Terrier. It has a fine-boned frame, erect ears and a short, glossy black and tan coat. Bred to kill rats in pits and cellars, it is now a rare and refined companion that still loves to chase.

Temperament

Lively, alert and affectionate, often devoted to its family. It is quick and agile, and can be wary of strangers. It may bark and can be sensitive to cold.

Exercise

This small, quick terrier does well on a couple of short walks plus play indoors or in the garden, with a game of chase or fetch. It enjoys training and has quick reflexes.

Grooming

The thin, glossy coat needs only a quick rub with a soft cloth or brush. Because it has little padding, wrap it up in cold weather.

Care & wellbeing

Keep warm in cold, wet weather and look after the teeth.
