About the Fox Terrier (Smooth)
The Smooth Fox Terrier is a British terrier originally used to bolt foxes from their earths. It is a lively, square-built dog with a smooth, mainly white coat with black or tan markings, and a V-shaped folded ear. Quick, bold and always on the move, it has long been a favourite in the show ring as well as at home.
Temperament
Bold, lively and quick-witted, usually friendly and playful with family. It has a strong chase instinct and can be noisy. It is intelligent, but strong-willed and can dig and bark if bored.
Exercise
Needs an hour or more a day of walks, play and training. It enjoys running, ball games and finding things.
Grooming
The smooth coat is hard and dense, and a firm brush once a week keeps it tidy. Shedding is moderate, and a wipe down is usually enough after muddy walks.
Care & wellbeing
Keep weight lean and check teeth, eyes and ears. Make sure fences are secure.
